Some iOS features that can come in handy during the holy month

Ramadan surely is one of the busiest times of the year in this part of the world. As working hours reduce, the amount of work to be completed in these reduced hours remains the same, and sometimes increases as well. Maintaining a balance between work and focusing on your health while you fast can be really tricky. The solution however is simple if you work smart. It is essential that you manage certain key aspects like monitoring health, organize sleep hours, make the most of our time with family and friends without any disturbance and manage the time spent in front of mobile screens.

To achieve all this and find the right balance while fasting, here are some features many of us could be unaware of on iOS on iPhone and iPad:

DND: Do Not Disturb
Ramadan is a family occasion when all family members spend a lot of time together. This is particularly true during Iftar, when the family members gather around the table to share their first meal of the day. To dedicate this time without outside distractions, activate the Do Not Disturb feature until you are finished with your meal.

Monitor Screen Time
In this day and age, we spend a huge percentage of our daily time staring at screens, be it a television or mobile or a laptop. However, we must be careful to better manage the time we spend in front of our screens through the Screen Time feature available on iOS 12, which enables us to make the most of the time we spend on our devices.

Activate Bedtime
The month of Ramadan can prove to be quite stressful if one is not able to get proper rest on weekday and for those fasting, it is essential to get the required hours of sleep. Activating the Bedtime feature from the Watch app enables you to set the required amount of sleep every night, and reminds you when it’s time to hit the bed.

The Health app
Get off to a good start every morning during the holy month by inputting data related to your daily routine in the Health app on your phone. Access all your health data and set goals to achieve by the end of the month. The app connects other apps on your phone to help you follow your progress in four categories – Activity, Sleep, Mindfulness and Nutrition.

Activity: The app combines activity data from your iPhone, such as steps and distance, with other activity data from third-party fitness apps on your phone as well as activity data from your Apple Watch to give you a summary of your daily activity.

Mindfulness: The Breathe app on the Apple Watch can help overcome stress. The Aura app from the App Store offers meditation sessions that help reduce stress, stay focused and sleep better.

Nutrition: The Health app makes it easy to manage goals and accurately monitor what you eat. Other apps are also available on your device to help you control your diet, such as My Fitness Pal to calculate the calories you burn daily.
